MTHR

“MTHR” is a creative direction which explores personal, visual motifs through texture, sculpted substrates, form, and color. Shadow and light play with the three dimensionality of the canvas surfaces to add kinetic topographical interest, while fiber inspires touch and movement. Each piece in this ongoing series is uniquely designed and crafted, paying homage to the artist’s mother, who introduced her to fiber craft at a young age and who is also the fiber supplier. Canvases are hand sculpted and stretched on digitally designed frames. The wool is harvested by hand during the spring shearing season, in and around the greater Virginia area, from local alpaca farms. It is then either spun by hand, or blended and machine spun in a small scale, Vermont spinnery before being hand dyed by the artist.
